Image Stabalizer in the camera lens or the same body of some cameras has very important benefits, and it has many symbols according to the brand of each camera, such as IS, O.I.S. , Optical SteadyShot, SR, VC, VR, MEGA O.I.S. It is used to give the image greater sharpness by reducing vibration during shooting, especially during shooting at slow shutter speeds or with video in-motion shooting. But in some cases it is not useful and can be dispensed with to provide the camera battery, however we note that some photographers do not turn off the stabilization feature in all shooting situations.

When to use the Stabalizer for the lens and the camera ?!

So here we can ask when should we take advantage of Stabalizer  and when should it be turned off?

Before we answer this question, we want to give you a brief picture of the Stabalizer and how it works. There are two types of anti-flicker in the lens and an Stabalizer in the camera itself.

When to use the Stabalizer for the lens and the camera ?!

Lens damper

In the previous picture, we note that the built-in Stabalizer inside the lens works electronically by moving the lens elements in contrast to the vibration caused by movement, and one of the most important features of the anti-flicker in the lens is its appropriate mechanism of action with lenses with a long focal length, and this mechanism makes the price of the lens more expensive compared to the same A lens that does not have this feature like the Canon 70-200mm lens.

Damper on the camera

As for when the Stabalizer  feature is available in the camera, this gives us the ability to use any lens without anti-shake and use it on the camera itself. This feature increases the price of the camera as well, but one of the downsides of this feature in the camera is to reduce sudden movement during filming and not appear unless we turn off the anti-vibration, and this we see it as less effective in the anti-vibration integrated in the lens.

Now let's start by talking about when you don't need to use anti-vibration

When we install the camera on a tripod and we do not turn off the anti-vibration in the camera or lens, this situation is called the feedback loop, and here the anti-vibration IS diagnoses the vibrations of the movement by reversing it, even if the camera is stationary without shaking, and this causes the anti-vibration defect, so here it is necessary Turn off the damper when we're shooting on a tripod or stand and the camera is still.

And in some cameras, there is a special case of panning action, which can be used when photographing the horizontal movement state on a tripod and showing the movement

This feature may not be present on all cameras and this may cause blur in the image while in motion, in which case the anti-flicker must also be turned off while shooting. One of the important factors to turn off the stabilization feature or anti-vibration feature is to preserve the camera's battery, because the blocker needs energy in order to work and consumes the battery, so turning it off during shooting fixed targets is important for us to shoot with the battery for a longer time.
